Cocktail event fit for a beauty queen!

A Beauty Queen’s Matric Farewell November 2013

I’ve known Cindy for a good couple of years. In fact, I did her Sister Jessica’s matric cocktail event back in 2010 at their then “newly renovated” 5 bedroom family residence in Glenvista Johannesburg. Cindy is no ordinary teenager. She is the current Miss Teen Johannesburg and Miss YOU Teen. She loves fashion modelling and dance and is quite a beautiful young lady.

Her parents wanted an afternoon event with her business associates, media partners and friends; and wanted the event to showcase how loved she really is. They foresaw nothing big as it would just be a 2-3 hour celebration. Their private residence was just the venue for the cocktail event, where their open plan kitchen, lounge and dining room would be used to entertain guests.

The celebration began with “RED GLOVE TREATMENT” as one of our handsome assistants welcomed guests at the gatehouse that was 60 yards from the main entrance.

A 15 meter red carpet was rolled out for the guests with a Rolls Royce Phantom parked next to it. The car expressed a sense of unrivalled status from every angle. After all, the car you arrive in is a major aspect of your matric farewell.  Our favorite chef at Destiny prepared premium canapés fitting for celebrities that were displayed strategically in-between the photo ramp and the lounge. While the matriculants were having their oohs and aahs outside at the pool area, adults relaxed in the lounge with champagne and house music in the background.

Sticking to my signature HUGE DÉCOR focus points, Cindy directed the focus to the Photo Wall, Champagne Bar and her Rolls Royce. Everything else complimented it. I took advantage of the personalised Bubbly Bar and did my first shoot for my 2014 “Red Carpet Moments with Glisson” series that will air this February. Final editing is still in progress with my friends over at Décor Picture and Frame. Keep an eye out for it.

We decided not to direct guests to the lounge area immediately, but instead take them to the Photo Wall where Cindy welcomed them and took pictures with them. Guests started arriving at 4pm with many of the media (including YOU Magazine) being there first.

Sunset signalled the end of the cocktail event but just before Cindy’s convoy departed for Thaba Ya Batswana, situated approximately 3km from her home, there was a few minutes for me to do a quick toast and her parents told her and her friends to do their very best in the upcoming matric exams. Well, they did exactly so with her school achieving a 99.1% pass rate (one pupil was sick and could not write) and 175 distinctions; 8 of them belonging to Cindy herself that came a close 2nd overall at her school and in the TOP 1% (Business Studies) in South Africa in the IEB Exams.

The #GNEvents Team really enjoyed working on this special event and can’t wait for the 2014 matric farewell season as we host our first ever Glisson N Matric Farewell Cocktail Event.

Until next time; God Bless!

Gliss
